Household population and employed population


In 2003, there were 151,880 households, increasing 2,123 compared with 2002, increasing 1.4%.

  •  Household population

In 2003, the average population per household was 3.9 in Miaoli County, decreasing 0.32 compared with 1993, decreasing 0.04 compared with 2002. The average population per household of Miaoli County in 2003, was 0.33 more than the average of Taiwan Province in 1993. Because of the popularity of small-family, the average population per household decreased gradually. Compared with 4.22 per household in 1993, there were 3.9 per household in 2003, decreasing by 7.58%. From 1993 to 2003, the average household population of Miaoli County was higher than Taiwan Province. The data echoed with the phenomena that Miaoli as an agriculture-dominant county which has more persons per household.

    In 2003, the average population per household was 1.83 in Miaoli County, increasing 0.13 compared with 2002, surpassing Taiwan Province’s average by 0.26. In 2003, the average employees per household accounted for 46.92% of the average household population, increasing 2.88% compared with 2002, surpassing Taiwan Province by 2.94%. In the long run, Miaoli County mostly leads Taiwan Province on this rate except 1998 (-0.51%) and 1999(-1.73%).
